An elevator speech is marketing. It is marketing yourself and your business. An elevator speech is how you would describe your business in as short amount of time as possible or the amount of time it takes to ride an elevator to another floor. You would be explaining exactly what you do and how it will benefit another person. Have you tried saying one? We all know what our business is but some people have trouble explaining it and describing it to another person. According to Content Marketing Today, there are three essential elements to every effective elevator speech:

1. It must contain a benefit for your imaginary elevator companion.
2. It must contain the word you, meaning your listener.
3. It must contain some reference to emotion, because emotion is more engaging and memorable than intellectual information.

Customers always want to know 'what's in it for me.' You must explain the benefits as a marketing perspective. The content you write on your blog is marketing. You are marketing to prospective buyers. You need to be ready and you need to be focused. What's in your elevator speech?
